Dawgs Dominate in the Desert
October 29, 2012
Tucson, Arizona
The Huskies opened the 2012-13 season in Tucson, Arizona at the Great Sonoran Showdown.  With less than a month of preparation time, new mockers comprising over half its rosters, and the graduation of three All-Americans the year before, Washington knew it had its work cut out for itself.  But the Dawgs showed up ready to compete, and boy, did they ever!

After facing Claremont McKenna, Arizona State, and Pomona, Team 1236 finished with a perfect 8-0 record—a program first—and took home the First Place trophy! A special congratulations to Kaleigh Boyd for earning her first ever collegiate award, and Landon Whitbread for achieving double accolades for the first time in his career (including a perfect 20 plaintiff ranks).

Team 1235 was also a forced to be reckoned with.  After winning the opening round against the tournament hosts, they split close rounds with Fresno State, ASU, and Pomona to finish with a 5-3 record, good enough for Third Place!

This is only the start of what is sure to be a strong year for UW.  Now the focus is on its own tournament, the Emerald City Open, at the start of December.
